Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan Marks 10 Years of Health Care Transformation with Patient-Centered Medical Home Designation Program: In the tenth year of its nationally renowned program, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan has designated approximately 4,630 physicians in 1,700 practices across Michigan as patient-centered medical homes. Designated practices meet patients’ needs by providing more personalized, whole-person care. This change in practice patterns has resulted in higher quality care, with better outcomes and lower cost.

Dr. Anhalt
Dr. Joel Anhalt is a native of West Michigan, having grown up in Spring Lake. He received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Grand Valley State University and then attended medical school at Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Anhalt completed his internship at Pontiac Osteopathic Hospital Medical Center and residency in family medicine at William Beaumont Hospital.
He is a board-certified family physician and a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He has spent his entire career in Manistee County, first in Manistee for several years and now Arcadia, MI. He has served the local medical community as Chief of Staff and Board of Trustee member at Munson Healthcare Manistee Hospital.
Dr. Anhalt lives with his wife, Krista, and four children, Rocco, Savina, Shay, and Kole in Arcadia. He enjoys spending time with his family, coaching, and attending his children's sporting events. He is an avid runner, having run several marathons including the Boston Marathon.
Dr. Anhalt loves all aspects of family medicine and taking care of the whole family. His special interests include preventative medicine, chronic illness care (diabetes, hypertension), and educating future medical professionals.
